Hi, Ive been diagnosed just under a year now with type 2. Im diet controlled at the moment. Is there a way to bring down my levels quickly and safely, eg exercise? I test twice a day ( I buy my own strips ), usually before my main meal and 2hrs after, and levels are usually about 10 to 12 ish . Any suggestions would be welcome thanks.

Hi Jim, and welcome to the forum
I am not an expert on the exercise side of things, although I do some exercise myself, but on the diet side perhaps this information could help you along with other information. It was written for new members and I think it would be useful to you. Ask any more questions that you have and someone will have a reply for you.

Hi !

I'm a new comer, just months into my diagnosis - but I have found my levels dropping really well after swimming. When I swim, the levels drop for about 1/2 a day! and usually my fasting BG next morning is nice and low ( in the 5s ). before I started trying my fasting was always over 8mmol/l.

If you are up for it, YOGA also lowers BG levels quite efficiently ( I am a Yoga teacher, so I've done my own clinical trials!!! ). What's great about Yoga is that as well as being aerobic ( occasionally ), it stimulates the endocrine system ( ie. liver, pancreas, thyroid etc) improves blood circulation, aids with eliminating toxins, increases your flexibility and helps you to stop thinking about diabetes whilst you're doing it!!

Good luck
