Bad manors, exercising, not being able to eat what i want, being skint, getting up.
Hi, can anyone tell me why my bs goes up over night when i havn't eaten? I'm ranging between 6.2 and 7.8 during the day on a low carb diet and i last eat at 7pm. By 7am it's raised to 8. sometihing or 9.1 as it was today. My husband says it's because i have sweet dreams!

Dee. (sweetdreamer) Think i'll have this as my user name. What do you think?

Hi Dippydee,

I have the same kinda readings, 7.2 first thing and 6.2 later in the day, I came on forum today to see if anyone had any help, and it was as if you were me. Sorry I dont have any help, hope someone can help us both.

Dee

Thanks sugarless sue,

I am reading the link, and will give a small protein snack a go.

I have been reading others comments for months, but not been brave enough to give it a go, or maybe it needed to be something that was really important to me. It was really stange having the same problem with someone with a similar name.
Many thanks.

Thanks Sue. That link made sense I'll give it a try.

Dee.

It's called Dawn Phenomen (but i cant spell) and has something to do with how your liver prepares the body for the day to come.

I experience this DP to quite a degree, even if i eat protein before bed and is why i started to take Metformin.

Since taking the meds, my blood glucose levels are OK when i wake but rarely below 6 and i have breakfast without delay - pure oat porridge - and voila! My bg stabilises until lunchtime!

Thanks Bunty, i forget that my body does stuff without my say so. i tend to think if i havn't eaten then where the hell does the raised levels come from. Sue's link explained it beautifully.
