over the past week or so my levels have been going really high towards the end of the day and I'm not too sure why. My basal seems to be okay running through the night and I take a significant amount of fast acting wih my evening meal compared to other injections yet they still go on the up.
Live just had the same meal I had a few weeks back and I used to be fine with 4 units and now I've had 8 and they're currently 14 and still on the way up...any ideas why?
I have my lantus and 10pm so it's a fair few hours after my meal so not too sure if I can blame that not lasting he full 24 hours
You may want to do some basal checks...although could be due to a number of things...what did you have for dinner? Could you be coming out of honeymoon period...in which case you may want to speak with your DN regarding altering your bolus
I'm also suddenly experiencing strange rises in late evening and needing more than double the amount of NovoRapid I used to need for evening meals.
I think my Lantus is now running out at about 7pm (I inject around 11pm) so I'm planning to try splitting the dose next week. If you inject Lantus at 10pm couldn't this be the same problem you're having?
I inject at 10pm so it could be the same, I think I'm going to try and change injection sites and maybe up my lantus a little if needed. Let me know how you get on with split doses, will give it a try if it proves successful!
Yes, will let you know. How much Lantus do you currently take? I have 8 units and will try splitting it 4 in the evening / 4 in the morning but not sure if the ratios for night / day might actually need to be different. It's so annoying because I had a really good routine and everything was going well but now I feel a bit lost. My Libre graph has been looking a lot like yours - nice and flat and low all day but then when it hits late evening I just can't seem to stop it climbing ....
have pasted this for reference ( ignore the womens bit in the website address -- tis relevant for all T1's )--rotation is fairly critical to good absorption.
perhaps the insulin has pooled and is not being absorbed as per normal.
I have had this happen to me on the odd occasion.
another thought / query -- are you coming to the end of honeymoon period ?
insulin need will increase
possibly suffering with an infection ?
increased levels of stress at work ??
