Hello Everyone

I was wondering if some of you could post your highest blood sugar levels. :?:

Over the past month I have had readings off the scale (H1 - on my meter) Have just started on glicazide and a low carb diet - and things are improving. 16.3 on last reading
Thanks

Gill

30 - sorry to brag

But I was (last year) very ill for a month, with coma-like naps for 4-6 hrs per day and
constant blue urine sticks - ketosis; very tired and constantly drinking water and voiding; this was after my 6-month flu and bronchitis, but i should *note* that i also had the same symptoms on a smaller scale for quite a few years prior to this; i hope chronic diabetes did not do too much damage - don't know if it did; with the meds i am fine now, average of 6.2 every 3 mos.

What is A & E Bowell - British acronym? Anna i was in the high 20s too for a few months i think. I actually liked the passing out kind of sleep but i did not know it was diabetes.

Thanks Everyone
Erin - you describe exactly how I felt a week back. Glad to hear you are better now

Hello Everyone
I had to go to A&E last Sunday and yes I had a long wait but there was a problem with referral. When they sorted that out - they were marvellous. Had me hooked up in minutes.
I sometimes knock it - but I thank heaven for the NHS

A&E = Accident and Emergency Dept
...
Looks very thorough -- here in our province in Canada we call 911
for an Ambulance to be taken to the ER (Emergency Room) where
you can wait indefinitely but get super care by the Triad Nurse

I'd be quite upset if I got a nurse who was a Triad

Khaleb's blood sugar at DX was 86mmol but I met another child who was mis-diagnosed 3 times at A & E who's bsl was 106mmol.

33.6 at diagnosis with ketones on the top mark.

Didn't actually feel unwell just very very thirsty.

GP's eyes were out and stalks and sent me straight to A&E

Highest since was 16 or 17 I think but I was a tad sick at the time so not unexpected.

45 on diagnosis here. Had some blood tests in the afternoon and was told to ring up for the results in a week or so. Was phoned that evening by the hospital and told to come straight in. When I asked if it could wait till morning as the kids were in bed I was told in no uncertain terms I was to come NOW and get someone else to drive!

Thanks Everyone
All; the best to everyone who has shared their results. Have had similar very high results myself - as high as 45 and like LH felt OK except for incredible thirt and tiredness. Now I check after every new food and have got my levels down to less than 12.
Good Luck to all

32.1 so far but this is all new to me still haven't been diagnosed just very ill alot and going into hypo regular can't wait to get to the bottom of the problem hopefully it can be fixed right?

If you're not diagnosed, what meds are you on that are taking you from highs of 32.1 down to hypos? Do you mean you haven't been told which type you are but you're taking medicine anyway? Are you injecting insulin?

No meds at all the hospital said I'm in baby stages of diabetes where my pancreas is producing to much insulin and then not enough and at other times im ok its very rare I would be ok! My cousin had the exact same before he went into a coma up and down regular when i go see the specialist next week I hope to know alot more its so common in my family but i still ain't a clue what I am on about my nan and cousin know more than I do! But they live so far its not always as easy to ask them. It's just a worry having kids in the house and what not

Diagnosed 9 years ago at about 29 (fairly low for T1 - my mother is on the ball!). Never went over that til last year, when I had a few months of VERY bad control and ended up HI several times, almost ended up in DKA more than once :S Back on the level(ish) now, HbA1c back down to 8 from nearly 14, so still a little way to go but sooo much better than it was!
xx
