low/high blood sugars, the feel of depression at times
hiya..im a newbie been type 1 diabetic now for 19 years now. In the past i have never taken control of it at all..never really use to inject. On the odd occasion i would. I never went to see my specialists either, so i never new if my amounts of insulin i was taking were right or not..i just had to guess( didnt even know about this 1unit per 10g carbs). In the past i remember being ill quite alot from bad control..having really bad hyperglycaemia( or is it hypo??) i can remember once when i was really ill an ambulance lady telling me that if my mum had left me 30mins longer then i would of been dead, and to be honest that shock never worked!! I now live with my boyfriend of 3years...he was the one that finally kicked my ass and got me to go and see somebody. So after about 8yrs i went to see a specialist a couple of months ago and they put me on a pump straight away. i must say it has been amazing so far. i love it..my sugars were not perfect at the start but now there nearly always below 10(i was used to them being in their 20s before the pump). I have already had problems with my eyes..but last time i went back everything was fine  i just want any other parents with teenage kids that are not looking after themselves to really kick them up the ass

hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

If only we had time machines eh. Bet you'd give yourself a right telling off.

Good to hear from you and that you're getting yourself sorted out, you've found the best place in the world
