I am type 1 diabetic, and am planning a holiday to Thailand at the end of April for 2 weeks, this is the hottest time of year in Thailand (about 36degrees each day) and i wondered had anyone been here around this time and the likely effect on my diabetes with the hot humid weather?
Hi Ashley,
any room in your suit case! Have a T1 son, haven't been abroad, but have been in the south of England during a mini heatwave, and it played havoc with his diabetes, lots of hypos. So the only advise i can give which is all common sense, is test loads keep hydrated and reduce insulin accordingly. Remembering that everyone is different, but i think generally the heat affects all diabetics the same,
Take care ,

My wife is Thai and I have travelled there most times of the year, including late April. I have only found that my BS levels have been fine when Im there, as long as I drink lots of water. Thai food seems to agree with my system in that respect, I think its the coconut milk? I just have a liking for sticky rice, which aint too great
iv travelled quite a bit and have never had any problems .... try and sort out a fridge to keep the insulin in while your there, it wont last very long in hot temperatures!
im going to Africa myself this summer, where il be staying is pretty basic to say the least. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!
