I have a 9 year old daughter who is type 1 and in a few weeks are going on holidays abroad for the first time, and I panic so much just looking for any tips and advice or ppls experiences when they have been away

Although you may not need it you should get a letter from your daughters gp to say she is diabetic and needs to carry needles etc, Frio pouches work well at keeping insulin cool whilst travelling but you may want to check if there's fridges at the hotel/complex where you are staying, sometimes there's an additional charge for a fridge in your room but it's well worth it.

Keep all medical supplies with you in the cabin and split them between you and your OH, if one holdall goes missing you still have enough insulin/needles to tide you over. Also carry a copy of her repeat prescription as this details everything she needs to treat her diabetes, in the unlikely event that everything is lost you can present this to a medical centre or local pharmacy.

Goes without saying but also remember to carry plenty of fast-acting glucose and snacks, she may find in the heat (if it's very hot) that her bg may go low and a reduction in insulin is required, therefore testing more often than usual might be beneficial in the first few days.

Above all have a great time and come back safe!!!
