i am type 2 diabetes and looking for information on honey. I have an annoying tickly am I able to take honey to help, having conflicting information from people. Thank you

It is entirely up to you, but as for your blood glucose you may as well eat sugar! There are sugar free cough remedies available. You could ask the pharmacist.

Honey is very sweet because it has a high sugar content.
The affect this may have on your BG is dependent on many things such as how much you take, what you take it with and, quite simply, how your body handles it: we are all different.
The best way to find out if you can take honey without a significant BG rise is to try it: test your BG, take the honey and then test again after 2 hours. If your BG has not risen more a couple of mmol/l, honey is ok for you.
Alternatively, there are some sugar-free cough medicines available which should have limited impact on your BG.

Oops missed out cough, should read annoying tickly cough!!!

Honey is a sugar, it is as simple as that. No matter that it is a natural product it will likely raise your levels to some degree.
Tickle coughs are annoying but rather than honey try a sugar free sweetie/cough sweet. When I had a chest infection earlier this year I found that the cream in my coffee eased that pesky 'throat cough' that an infection often causes. Get well soon.

Honey used to be one of my favourite foods, but if I want to control my glucose leves then it's been a definite NO for me. It's still a form of sugar - both are produced naturally, both are generallly provessed to get the final product, and beekeepers feed their bees on sugar at times (in the UK have been given special rations for them during time of acute sugar shortage. ) And to cap it all, I've seen some figures very recently that imply that honey has actually got a slightly higher carb content than actual sugar.

I've not had one of those nasty tickly coughs for ages now, but I'd imagine that something greasy or oily - such as the cream @Guzzler has suggested may well help ease the irritation.

A lot of honey is now adulterated with glucose solutions and corn syrup so you can no longer trust it to be the pure natural product any more.

If you go down the sugar free route be prepared to spend some time on the pooper. They have a laxative effect.
