How do i know if I am honeymooning, as the hospital wont give me the C-Pep test. My ratio is .8:1CP and i only take 3 units of Levemir (Basal) twice a day. My total amount of insulin is usually 21 units per day

Go to your GP for any other kind of blood test for any other reason. Get the bag with the form and the urine bottle that they give you to take to the blood taking outpatient clinic. On the way to the outpatient clinic, accidentally mark an X on the C Peptide test check box...

But seriously....

As an alternative you could try a fasting test while discontinuing the Levemir. This is potentially dangerous however as you risk DKA. Fast first. Then drop a daytime Levemir and start testing every 2 hrs or even every hour. If you see any kind of rise then take some QA insulin and resume the Levemir. But if your blood sugar remains steady keep going. If you can go 12 or 24 hours with no insulin then you are probably honeymooning. Don't go to sleep without resuming the Levemir though unless you are going to set an alarm and wake up every 2-4 hrs to test.

I don't know why everyone doesn't get a C Peptide test on diagnosis. I think it's criminal actually.

Spiker thanks for that, i will try

Spiker thanks for that, i'll give it a go. I have a CGM so it makes it handy - i agree on the C-Pep test they shuld do it on diagnosis
