As an alternative you could try a fasting test while discontinuing the Levemir. This is
potentially dangerous however as you risk DKA. Fast first. Then drop a daytime Levemir and start testing every 2 hrs or even every hour. If you see any kind of rise then take some QA insulin and resume the Levemir. But if your blood sugar remains steady keep going. If you can go 12 or 24 hours with no insulin then you are probably honeymooning. Don't go to sleep without resuming the Levemir though unless you are going to set an alarm and wake up every 2-4 hrs to test.
I don't know why everyone doesn't get a C Peptide test on diagnosis. I think it's criminal actually.
