I had home made veg soup and a brown bread bun and i tested 14,6 two hours later, but I had steak and veg including new potatoes for evening meal and tested 6.2 two hours later, dosent make much sence .
I had two wheetabix with semmi skimmed milk for breakfast but my fasting blood was 8,Im new to testing, bought the moniter two days ago,not been feeling to good no energy and swetting when I try to do anythingWhat were you before those meals? That makes a big difference, and many people seem to find breakfasts a challenge, when it comes to their blood scores.
To get the best from testing, you really need a starting point (your score just before eating), then your after food scores. Then you can both see the number, but understand the extent of the rise. If you were 12.5 before lunch, then lunch might have been, in itself fine, and the finger then points to what happened at breakfast.
I believe full fat milk is best for us.I had two wheetabix with semmi skimmed milk for breakfast but my fasting blood was 8,Im new to testing, bought the moniter two days ago,not been feeling to good no energy and swetting when I try to do anything
Thanks for your concernI believe full fat milk is best for us.
thank you for a lovely reply. Thanks for your concern
I agree with Jack you may have overdone it on your walk, and with virtually no carbs in your system your liver may have dumped some glucose to compensate. Did you have any fat with your lunch? That would have helped I think. Some mayo or olive oil dressing. I always have mayo on my salads (not keen on oil dressings)
did the veg soup have any starchy veg that needs to count, it's hard the first time but once it's done you can just remake it. You could weigh each veg and calculate the carb. then divide the total by how many serves it is for carbs and of course the roll would be another 30g of carb.I had home made veg soup and a brown bread bun and i tested 14,6 two hours later, but I had steak and veg including new potatoes for evening meal and tested 6.2 two hours later, dosent make much sence .
This is proving trickier to manage than I realized it would be. I managed to keep my carbs to around 30g today, my lowest yet.
Dinner was sirloin steak, served with a stir fry (hemp oil) of mushroom, courgette, leek and red pepper. I followed this with blueberries and yogurt. I tested one hour after and it was up to 7.9 and then after 3 hours it jumped up to 12.8 for no apparent reason. I was watching the TV during that time, no exercise this time.
Feeling down tonight.

Carol

hi, i would say it's the bread, try the soup leave the bread and test that will give you the answer, i was having porridge with almond milk did a check 1hr after i was 10 at 2hrs i was 8.9 normally now i'm about 7.6 2hrs after so guess what i stopped eating, when i have lost more weight will try it againI had home made veg soup and a brown bread bun and i tested 14,6 two hours later, but I had steak and veg including new potatoes for evening meal and tested 6.2 two hours later, dosent make much sence .
hi, I've been trying small amounts of exercise enough to burn some energy not enough for my liver to dump more, i've been testing before a meal then 1 and 2 hrs after i've not gone above 7.8I usually wash my hands before testing, so am pretty sure I did. I didn't retest at that time though. I will keep that in mind if it happens again, thanks.

I think that may be true Carol. Short bursts of medium impact is better than prolonged activity, I think. There was something on tv about HIT. High Intensity something ? the real experts should be along to clarify, but I may have got it wrong. xxToday I am investigating whether 3 10 minute sessions on the exercise bike will be better than one 30 minute walk. So far so good.
