Type 2 Hot Showers and affect on Blood Sugar

Weirdly I've just taken a hot shower..

Noticed a bit of a jump from 7.3 to 9.4 then down to 6.5..
I'm also traveling through France planted a new sensor in anticipation of a swap tomorrow & enjoying a cheeky glass of wine before a moule supper..

I will be taking a shower in the morning too..
Seeing as there is no prep for the "day job" let's find out...

Slight jump about 1mmol & back, that was it with this morning’s shower..

I had had a skin full of wine last night with the moule supper.
So I guess my liver was also busy..

I have been using libre for many years now and do find that my blood sugar levels surge upwards when I have a hot shower. Fingerprick testing agrees well with the libre reading so I do not doubt that there is a rise in sugar levels. Why this happens I have no idea but some things we cannot explain so I just accept it and if a shower pushes my sugar levels too high I just inject an extra unit of insulin. I genreally need a unit or two anyway when I get up as my sugar level rises towards the end of the night which is a commonly occurring phenomenon as the body fires up ready for a new day. Drinking a mug of hot tea has exactly the same effect and can push my sugar levels up by 3-4 mmol/l. At least with a few extra shots of insulin from time to time I am able to maintain a time in range of 90-97%.

Yes me too, but it also goes up when I just get out of bed before eating or drinking anything so I’m not entirely clear which is most responsible for the higher readings.

Just to check correlation vs causation, your fingerprick agrees with the libre when you do a test during or immediately after a hot shower?

I've still not tested mine (though I have had a few showers, don't worry), but as my libre reading drops down as soon as I get out I'd not need extra bolus.

Perhaps this is just another one of those differences between people. Interesting.
