Hi,
Up until you where diagnosed as diabetic in general. Had you been tested at any other time, prior?
Hi ,
nope .. this was my first blood test in over 6 months .. interestingly ( that HBA1c test has shown a slight increase to 40 something whereas the one prior to that was 30 something
may mean nothing though ...!
Those results were normal so nothing was needed
( they were standard / check everything blood tests
( I’ve always drank lots in the evening and as a result getting up more at night , my days are pretty random !)/ I get up quite late sometimes
Not quite sure I get what you mean here. a hyper is a BG level of over 14mmol and a hypo a BG level under 4mmol, I can go months without either even longer, just because you haven't/don't experience them doesn't mean your not Type 1Also I feel I don’t get hypos and hypers ... hmm

You said in your first post HbA1c was 118 now its 40?Hi ,

Sorry? Not sure what you mean? I don't see it as that, many other factors can play a part, my most stubborn hypo wasn't caused by too much insulin as I'd trialled everything the previous day but the stress and worry og my partners grans funeral was the cause so it does not always mean too much insulinHi,
Hope yer good.
Hypos in any insulin dependent diabetic, in short means too much insulin & a near depleted BG level.

Diagnosis later in life seems to throw up more questions. If your GAD results come back as positive you know for sure it’s T1 but if they come back negative that doesn’t necessarily mean your not T1.
They were so sure I was T1 in hospital they gave me a Libra on prescription straight away but it turns out I’m antibody negative, still producing some insulin but with no definitive diagnosis either way yet.
Both T1 & T2 present with similar symptoms. I had a hba1c of 97, BG of 25 & ketones of 3 on diagnosis but didn’t go into DKA. Your not having hypo’s because your BG is still high this becomes more of a risk when you are closer to ‘normal’ levels & then you risk going low.
Whether you are T1 or T2 if you are motivated to change your lifestyle go for it. It won’t do you hard to cut back on sweets & snacks if that’s what you want to do. Of course if you are instead T2 it will be much more in your benefit to do so.

Hi , me again
Thank you if you have answered my questions previously ! Really appreciated
could type 2 diabetes have developed in those months ?? I was over weight with a waist over 40 waist
I had high ketones ( went to hospital , found out there ) , they are now back to normal
I’m really hoping I do NOT have type 2 , it’s just on my mind , knowing I was over weight etc
Thank you
I'm a bit confused here. Do you mean you're really hoping you do not have diabetes or do you mean you hope you have a different type of diabetes?I’m really hoping I do NOT have type 2
