Hi all, I'm just wondering what is the biggest amount of Metformin SR a person can have?
I'm on 4 a day and my last 2 results have been 64, and 62. My doctor mentioned taking another tablet, which I think is too much.. which other medications are others taking alongside Metformin SR?
I want to be armed with info before I see him in person. Thanks in advance

According to the NHS info on Metformin, the maximum dose is 2000mg a day.
see here

but according to Bath, Wiltshire and North Somerset Diabetes Service it’s 3000mg a day
see here

I think it’s more common to combine taking Metformin with another drug like Gliclazide then to prescribe more than 2000mg.

[of course, I meant mg, not g !]

Have you tried altering what you eat?
Many of us find a low carb lifestyle takes away the need for any medications
