How often do u change the lancets

We are moving our medicine cabinet and hubby is “tidying” this is my current box of lancets with about 8 drums left in, granted I don’t test that often now but really! & yes I’m still using them and they are fine don’t know wether to be ashamed or proud

I change mine as part of a Sunday evening ritual. I also wipe down the meter and the case (and sterilise my toothbrush and charge my step counter etc. etc.)

My surgery now issues single-use lancets and I don't like them as there is a huge amount of plastic waste and also they hurt me as there is only one setting. However it appears that there is no prospect at going back to the others (yes I know I can buy them separately myself and may well do in the future) but as I suspect I shouldn't be getting them on prescription anyway, I'm keeping my head down.

On the whole, I change my lancet following my annual review, so once in 12 months (it's a good thing I don't blush); the only exception being if somebody else wishes to use my kit. I can’t say a change of lancet has ever made a difference to my BG readings.

In almost 21 years since diagnosis, I've not seen any signs of infection following finger-prick tests.

This thread has just reminded me to change it. I used to do it about fortnightly, slipped out of that though, should change it often as I have so many boxes of them, like most I think.
