Re: how rude is your GP is so upset with the way I was treat
Hi Louise,
this is a very serious matter. It's bad enough that the doctor was insulting and unprofessional, but they are clearly neglecting your health.
Your last Hba1c result may be good but your levels have gone up recently and that needs treating. Levels of 16-19 are not good, your practice nurse is a fool. You doc is paying more attention to an out of date test result than your current state which obviously needs attention. As for prescribing anti-biotics for no reason...
I suggest you make a formal complaint against this surgery, if you haven't already; and find yourself a new GP practice-one that treats you with some respect would be a start. Contact your local PCT for a list of GPs and ask them how to go about making a complaint. Some PCTs will take details of a complaint over the phone, mine did.
As for your concerns over whether you could possibly be type-1, I really don't know. Your story shows the dangers of incompetent GPs being allowed to manage diabetes care when they clearly don't have a clue. It's something that's concerned me for many years; since a previous GP, who ran a diabetes clinic, asked me if I checked my own blood-sugar. I'm a type-1 on insulin and was pregnant at the time! You should be referred to a "specialist" at your local hospital, where you can be properly assessed and perhaps have the c-peptide test to check whether you are in fact type-1.
Stay angry and give your surgery a kick up the a***. At the very least they may learn some manners
