Its not long now until i start my pump trail 17 feb. i'm still very anxious. i feel that i don't want to go to sleep a leaving it all down to the pump.
during the day i have no worry s. when i was working on the roads i had 3 or 4 hypos in a day. no problems adjusting insulin or carbs....
But trusting the pump when i'm a sleep?
i no i'm just being silly

Don't panic

You will have a lot less circulating insulin in you than an injection of long acting insulin and your diabetes team will initially set a basal level that is going to be less than you require rather than too much. Set your alarm for a few times through the night and test to reassure yourself and have hypo treatments next to you just in case. It is different to MDI but changing to a pump is meant to make your control more manageable not scare the living daylights out of you. Good luck, I'm sure it will be nowhere near as frightening as you're imagining and you'll soon adapt to it.

I've managed 15 years of nights with a pump and am still here (although I can't actually remember my first night) !

No your not silly

As usual some great advice from Flowerpot. Just make sure to test your bg more than you would when on MDI and you'll be fine, there's a lot of support from the diabetes clinics when you first start on a pump and they will keep in touch with you to guide you throughout, I've only just started on a pump myself so share your concerns about trusting the pump but within a short space of time those fears will fade.

It's taken me a few months, and I think I'm now 90% there with my basals. Advice above is very good. Testing every 1-2hrs every couple of nights is good practice and will get your basals sorted much quicker than I did. It's takes a while to "trust" the pump, don't be surprised if you have plenty of BGs out of range for the first few weeks - it's normal!

I think i'm over reacting i have seen horror stories headlines (my pump nearly kill me) but the only thing you can beleave reading in a newspaper is the date.
i ordered the book you suggested.
next thing is to buy at relialbe alarm clock.
check on test stripes and dextrose
