Hello,

I am posting on behalf of my father. He's not net-savvy. He's been a diabetic for a long time, but has a real struggle to get even blood sugars. He was on Levemir 2 times a day and the Novorapid 3 times a day, but he was becoming extremely stressed and depressed on it and could get no control at all.

He was put on Humulin M3 recently, and the change in him has been remarkable. He's happier, less angry, feels better. It's nice not to have a powderkeg in the house anymore!

The trouble is his blood sugar is dropping fast in the morning. It can be 15 after breakfast, and then down to under 4 by lunchtime. He is eating 60 carbs for breakfast, about 50 for mid-morning snack (so quite a lot) yet it falls hard. In the afternoon it's not so bad.

They tried putting him on Humulog recently, but within two days he was back to being emotional, upset, angry... all the stuff we got rid off when he went to Humulin. So he switched back to Humuln M3 and he's now much better again.

It would seem that the *******ogues have a really horrible effect on him, they destabalise him.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why his blood sugar could be dropping so hard in the morning on the M3? Anyone had similar experiences? Or has anyone tried any alternatives that aren't an *******ogues such as Humulog or NovoRapid?

The latest is he's meant to be having an operation and they're saying they may not to do it as his blood sugar was high. So now it's placing a lot of pressure on him again.

Any advice would be REALLY appreciated.

Thanks.

One thing I found today was that M3 should be taken 30 minutes before eating. Does anyone else take M3 and could they comment on their experiences with timing insulin before eating?

Thanks.

P.S. I just realized that the people who have setup the forums have gone a little mad and in their bid to censor the word a.nal the word ana.logue has also been censored in my post above. Diabetics not being able to type the names of their insulin without being censored... great.
