Hungry when high?

I have noticed that if my blood sugar level gets above about 8 mmol/l I get urges to snack on something. Has anyone else noticed this and can anyone suggest a reason?

I eat very low carb and spend a majority of the day and night within my target range of 4.0 to 6.5 mmol/l . There are of course times when I slip outside this. Being low carb, I don't get the hunger that I once did but if I get too high, I often notice this strong urge to eat something. Strange as its the last thing my body needs at that time so why does this happen?

I too notice a desire for munchies when my BG is high.

I put this down to my body's inability to convert the excess sugars into usable energy (i.e. insufficient insulin) so thinks it needs more. I may be wrong with this hypothesis.

On the other hand, when my BG is low, I don't want to eat anything and have to force myself to eat dextrose when it is the last thing I want to do. My only theory for this is that hypos make me feel nauseous. Again. this hypothesis may also be wrong.
