hurting foot

Hi
I have had type 1 for nearly three years. I hurt my foot. I banged it on a chair. My little toe has been swollen for two months and shoes are uncomfortable. The GP gave me naproxen but the podiatrist sent me for an X-ray. There were no fractures seen but some signs of degeneration. It is not getting better and shoes are uncomfortable. Any advice?

What did your podiatrist recommend?

Podiatrist thought Gp should have rayed it straight away. I have not been back to him. Gp says to keep taking the tablets. Is a podiatrist the best person to discuss with? Am concerned I may have damaged my foot and will have long time problems
