Stress is an excellent way to increase our BG whether we want it or not.
There are many things that affect our BG - food is the obvious one, also stress, exercise, drugs, illness, for us women our monthly cycle, end of honeymoon period, even our bodies fighting a bug before we realise it.
Now I am on a pump, I would increase my basal for the period of the stress ... bearing in mind it takes about an hour for the basal to take affect.
If you are injecting, this is a bit harder but you could trial giving yourself a little extra bolus before the sessions. I used to do this when climbing which is something which always raised my BG.
Don't forget to do lots of testing afterward - the increase in BG has come about by your liver doing a glyocogen (someone will correct me if I am wrong) dump which may reduce your reserves and lead to a hypo later.
