Hi if someone could help me please. For a few months I have noticed that sometimes when I ate a chocolate bar or ice cream that about an hour later I felt very shaky amd sweaty not with it. I have had random blood sugars and all was fine but this kept happening. Last night I ate a chocolate bar and an hour later it happened again but I have been carrying a blood testing kit around for my 3 year old that is always thirsty and peeing lots. so I tested my sugar it was hard because I felt so bad my sugar was 2.1. I had gestational diabetes and once had a mix up in jospital where they gave me my insulin but then said I couldnt eat lunch becausevOf a rest an hour latet I started feeling likevI did last night and my sugarvthen was 2.5. I am so confused. I decided to see if it would do it again ate the same chocolate took my sugar at 1:hr and my sugars were 8.5. Does anyone have any ideas to what is wrong?
Hi kyym

I know your really worried at the moment but we all are at some point the advice and facts available to you on the forum are learned over time by personal experiences and an array of knowledge . Are you aware of hypo's ? some people are and others arent (I'm not Hypo aware ) Some people are and this helps them to act on the fact they know. The rest of us who are'nt have to test often to moniter. I personally test 4 times a day and document my food against my levels .This will hopefully pay off in the long term resulting in dietry control. I expect you have had a reply by now .So best of luck and hope you and your child are ok

Kyym, I'd recommend that you make an appointment to see your GP first thing and discuss the readings with her/him. If you feel chocolate may be the culprit then avoid eating it until you know more. Best of luck and please let us know how you get on with your doctor.
