@Colourfull500, There should be a booklet which tells you what the error codes mean in with the box the meter came in.
If you are Type 1 I believe your GP can prescribe a meter plus strips.
If your GP will not prescribe a meter and you think you can self-fund one, the following article gives a rating of those they tested.
Unfortunately most meters were US ones.
As the article explains all meters have an error rate, that is an accuracy which is
plus or minus a certain % of the reading. The meter industry has been told to lift their game and produce meter that have better than +/- 15% of the true reading. Best Wishes.
To help with seeing which meters are available in the UK, on the Home Page under Living with Diabetes. to the far left column is Blood Glucose meters. If you need the cheapest meter and strips look at SD Codefree, but I do not know its accuracy rating.
