I feel so bad...

I must admit Bluetit,I didn't even think about the size,I must start to weigh out my food that am not sure of,Ty...
 
You must weigh carbs initially until you get used to what a particular portion looks like on your plate, or how many spoonsful you put on your plate. Otherwise, how do you know how many carbs you are eating in a day? Do you keep a food diary?
 
I will do that from now on,just didn't think,yes I am writing all my foods down,what I can eat,and what spikes me...I also tried a slice of German rye bread today as someone suggested to me,it spiked me big time,I am really missing a slice of bread for a snack with my eggs,I think I might buy a bread machine.

If you are finding bread spikes you, buying a bread making machine could be an expensive experiment. Why not make some bread, with the recipe posted, by hand. It's very easy. All dry ingredients in the bowl together, add liquids, mix, then knead. Prove until it doubles in size, then bake. Some recipes are best proven twice. That way you would know it that mixture can be tolerated before investing in a bulky machine.

If that recipe gives acceptable numbers, then you know a bread maker could be worthwhile.

Alternatively, give up bread for a while, and revisit once your numbers are a bit better.
 
Yes I am going to do it by hand,but like you said,I will give bread a miss for a while and concentrate on my numbers...ty
 
I say you're human!

Throwing the evil food in the bin is the way forward. If you're craving stuff have a look a diabetic versions. I love a cheesecake and thought if never be allowed it again but found a great recipe which I chop and change to add variety!

Ground almonds are great for baking too.

How do you make cheese cake,can you give me your recipe please...I love cheese cake,so far I have made home made ice cream,very bland it was,tomorrow I am going to try muffins,feeling down in the dumps today,cheese cake sounds yummy...xox
 
Here you go. It needs a bit of sweetened whipped cream on top and I prefer the base without ginger. It's also great with strawberries too!

I'm planning on experimenting with ground almonds.

Have you tested yourself after eating cake? I made cupcakes for my kids yesterday and my BG did go up but still within normal range. Was worth it!!

Thank you,this is going on my list,and them cup cakes are making my mouth water,would like to know how they affected your sugar...xox and also,what is your normal sugar level.
 
Two hours after the cake, my BG was 7 which has been my highest reading.

I've not measured the cheesecake but may do that tomorrow as I froze a load....

I made a peanut butter version! I over baked it as I had to go pick up my daughter so it was a little dry but still delicious!

And cheesecake is my FAVOURITE thing ever!!!

So for the peanut butter one you omit anything lemon but the rest is the same. I also used chopped peanuts in the base instead of half the seeds.

And it didn't spike my readings! Only 5.6 which is good isn't it? In fact it affected me less than my healthy salad I had for lunch.
