Hi
I hope you manage to get the right treatment for your PTSD as this will make a great difference to your life.
Meanwhile can you find a way to try low carb?
I had/have Complex PTSD which led to emotional eating, mainly cake and milk chocolates, and so from there to T2 diabetes. I had a couple of years of EMDR with an excellent therapist which helped a lot. I was fine after that for 5 years but I am on the waiting list at the moment for a 'refresher' short course as it seems I still have unfortunate reactions to any new trauma.
I still have a tendency to crave chocolate when stressed, but mostly keep it under control these days and have switched to dark chocolate (85% of higher) usually sweetened with stevia plus occasional almond flour or coconut flour cake.
I found the way to manage the swap to low carb was to think about the key foods and find substitutes I enjoy. I am also much better at noticing when I've been triggered now and finding better ways to cope than eating sweet, high carb foods.
