I Just Can't Do This Anymore, I Quit..

Dear Q,

It is not often I get involved in cases such as yours - so much so that I had a look at your Profile.

Let me tell you I would give the earth to live where you do and to have the benefit of the walk along the
secluded river with my dog. That exercise alone if ENJOYED each day would be sufficient to delay the onset
more serious problems.

You have not yet learned that your taste buds quickly adjust to almost ANY food and you will wonder why
you had not made the changes to your diet so much earlier.

As for the implied depression caused by various factors in your life - I have lost four children to genetic illness
and my wife to Cancer and recently, like you, have just lost my brother my last close relative. I just will not
let life beat me.

Everyone here emphasizes and cares for you here - I wish you the very best.

Rob

Hi Q.

I am hoping you are still part of this forum. It's been a while since you posted this and I was wondering how you are. Any chance of an update?

I did give out in the end, I went through a period where I went back on the Coke (drink), chocolate and it was heaven, my head used to spin for a while after the chocolate (never had that before).

Where I'm at now is I still can't get my head around this no \ low carb diet, I'm due a blood test this Monday that includes my HBA1C and I'm expecting the result to have shot back up, I must have. Potatoes, chips, roasters (salivate), rice, pasta = all my favourites and all push up my BGL as I understand it. I went to a dietician, she was as useful as an ashtray on a bike she just generalised and I came away wondering where the last 30 minutes had gone. I take a drug to keep my mood up and one of the side effects is constant appetite, I'm never fulfilled so this is making things even worse. I hate this, since a child I've never been a fruit & veg man - I have one meal a day and cheese & crackers for supper and I've still managed to put on 1st, this is a damned curse. I've stopped with the BG meter testing too, I got fed up, the readings never changed after the 2 hours wait after a meal -it's all just a mess.

I'm 6' tall was 13st 9 now 14st 9 so need to drop a stone and find something to replace the carb things. If you have something that works for you I'd be so glad to hear.

Kind wishes,

Q..

Hi Q

Have you ever considered the Newcastle Diet? You haven't got a lot to lose ( unlike me) but I found once I got through the first few days my appetite switched off. It also changed my attitude to food. I did it for about 6 weeks. Took a few weeks off and went back on it again. In the weeks I had off (planned as I was on holiday) I found it easier to control portions and not indulge as much as I didn't want to undo the good work I had done.

I also began to crave things that I would never have craved before (usually longing for junk). I crave apples, yoghurt and broccoli.

It might not be suitable for you but I just wanted to throw my experience into the mix.

I hope you begin to feel better soon

There are quite a few threads on this forum and quite a few of us have tried it. It may be worth you starting a new topic if you are tempted and have any questions about it, then others can chip in with their experiences
