I now have 3! Bought one from Amazon because it was only £3 and I had been told by diabetic friends that I needed to get testing and that the NHS were funny about allowing the stuff on prescription. Then when I saw the diabetic nurse I mentioned it to her and she immediately gave me a meter and a prescription. Now I have been told I entered a competition and although I didn't win they gave me a new Bayer Contour anyway ( nothing to do with me asking my doc to prescribe their strips instead of someone else's OBVIOUSLY  ).
My DN was horrified when I told her I bought one for myself, as she felt I didnt need to test. However next time I see her she is going to give me another and the testing strips, weird.
It probably will as all the results will be different  If you don't get what you want try them all again and get a completely new set of results
Oh lord Daisy...really? I was just joking. Are they way out? I better not try using all 3 or I really will drive myself nuts. ( too late I hear my husband cry! ). I refuse to be dictated to by drug companies! I shall put this new one in the bin or see if I can pass it on to someone who needs it!
I was joking too but there was some truth to it. Because meters can give different results it's recommended you stick to the same one. That way you can see the movement of your levels. You can test the accuracy of meters with a testing fluid which the manufacturers can supply (often free).
