My little girl has had type1 for about a week now . She's dealt with everything in her stride and more , I think she likes to be important with all the attention haha. Her name is grace aged 11. Grace is back at school now telling all her friends about the ins and outs of type 1 , grace underneath is not a fussy person and likes to be quiet and just listen . However the one thing she really loves is her bed on a night for a good nights sleep , the question is do I really wake her for blood test .

just be quiet and she will drop off easy enough, kids are tougher than us parents you know

That is great news that your daughter is coping so well

Just go with whatever her diabetes team has told you to do @Northernboy72, as she's newly diagnosed it would make sense to test her bg levels during the night until you know her insulin doses are right.

Best wishes.

Yes it's important for two reasons. Firstly as others have said, you need to be sure her levels are OK during the night. Secondly she is 11 now. Kids are compliant at 11, not so later on! So the more you can teach her good habits now the better it will be when she has to fend for herself when she is older.
