Hi, I'm a 20 year old female, consider myself to be quite healthy however I have this really strong feeling I might be a type 1 diabetic. For the past few weeks now I've been feeling really really groggy and weak usually about an hour or so after I've just eaten. The only way I can explain it is it feels as if I can feel the energy or sugar from my last meal wearing off. I eat and I feel fine again, I usually eat something sweet or have a sweet drink and I'll be back to my normal self.

That is alls it has been up until yesterday. I don't really remember an awful lot of it but I was in my boyfriends and I become extremely hot and clammy and felt really under the weather. Usually I will slowly and gradually feel worse but yesterday it was like it all hit me at once. I remember opening the windows and lying down and that was it until I woke up to my boyfriend trying to get me to drink lucozade. He said that I had gone unconscious and that I was breathing really heavily. When I woke up he said my speech was extremely slurred and that I looked like I had no energy to do nothing.

It was only an hour or so before hand that we had been for our dinner so I didn't understand how I felt so ill. My boyfriends mum is a type 2 diabetic and is constantly having hypos and my boyfriend said that everything that happened with me usually happens with his mum too which is a little concerning.

Looking up the symptoms today I actually have an awful lot of them, shaking, dizziness, frequent urination, stomach pains, feeling weak.

I don't know if I'm reading too much into it but I thought I'd ask people who actually have diabetes to get some factual feedback?

Any information or advice will be kindly appreciated x x x

Hi I think you need to get yourself off to the doctors or A & E first thing. Don't delay , you need to find out what's wrong asap

The shakiness, unconscious would most likely be due to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) the frequent toilet visits would be due to your blood sugar being high (if you were diabetic)
Could you ask your BFs mum to let you test, say 1-2 hours after a carby meal/ or even better 2 hours after a bottle of lucozade?
If you strongly suspect type 1 the best place to be would be A&E/hospital x
