Today, I had a sudden desire to eat ice-berg lettuce leaves spread with marmite. Have never eaten this before. I loved it and think it will now be a regular snack. I wonder if it's an LCHF substitute craving. (Well, no high fat) Took me back to early pregnancy days when I wanted to eat loads of grapefruit. And even further back, when my school packed lunch was hard-boiled egg and marmite sarnies.
I wonder do our appetites tell us what to eat because we need particular nutrients, or do they more often tell us to eat food that's not going to do us much good at all?
Well, my craving whilst pregnant was a tin of drained mandarin oranges on toast, and a white crust, buttered, and covered in HP brown sauce. How bad is that!
Yes, interesting. Do we need those sugary snacks that we (used to!) crave? I really wonder because people feel very guilty about food cravings and giving in to them, but the cravings are probably due to nutritional needs or metabolic disorder, one or the other. So no need to feel guilty, just need to feel well. I think it would help us a great deal if the guilt trip could be avoided.
