I think so but shouldnt my insulin be able to cope with that? Since it's a mixed insulin?Could it be the carb spike 1st and then the protein is coming in?
I think that's where avocado helps me. Bridges the gap. Before avocado I would go low first and then high. It's probably the rate the different macros are getting there. I could be totally wrong....
Theoretically yes but reality is another story. We get our insulin before we eat rather than as our bs rises. I find wherever I am after 2 hours is where I stay. So I think my insulin is gone by then. Different macros digest at different speeds. Some people double bolus by splitting their typical bolus in half and taking half at the beginning and maybe an hour later the other half. I don't want to deal with it so I found meals that work with one injection. The avocado slows the insulin so I don't go low and the fat slows the spike so I don't go high. This is why I eat the same macros every meal. Nothing to figure or count anymore. I'm on autopilot. Easier and less stressful for me. BF is the one I need to get right or I'm off all day. Guac and celery. LolI think so but shouldnt my insulin be able to cope with that? Since it's a mixed insulin?
It's not the actual numbers that I was getting as they didn't seem so bad . But that they went 5.6 before eating to 6.5 then down to 5.7 then after 2 hours up to 7.2 then at 3 hours back down to 5.3 that I still don't get, it Maybe I 'm just being a bit dense today.
From what I can see from just 2hr testing is lc spikes without insulin inj then raises until inj and meal which if lc comes down to good bg level. If I don't inj before bed with a lc nibble my fbg is 8+. A supper inj gives me excellent fbg.
I've tried moving inj as only doing 2 per day as I don't want weight gain. 8hrs cover doesn't cover my long days.
Lately I've had a buttleproof coffee only breakfast and no inj so I can have my inj for late lunch and then supper (lc nibble).
I find waking on a good fbg much more moral boosting than thrush suffering high bg night and waking on 8+.
Yes a beefburger with cheese on and green salad no potato and no bread. Oh and no salad dressing.Do you recall what the meal was?
Yes makes sense to me now.I just don't know if I explained it right.
The Freestyle Libre is a continuous glucose monitoring system where you attach a little sensor to your arm and use a reader to check your levels instead of using finger pricks and test strips. It gives you information 24 hours a day instead of just spot checks. See: http://www.freestylelibre.co.uk/products.htmlGood morning all
Can any tell me what is LIBRE?
Tell her from me that I'm a type 2 and have got my levels down to between 43 and 40 (low pre-diabetic) but I'm still diabetic (though a fairly well controlled one) and could go right back up if I don't watch it! So she does definitely need to take her result seriously, as she's right on the edge of the "potentially heading for diabetes" danger zone. I wish I'd had that wakeup call...Daughter got result of HbA1c was 39 don't Know what that is in Amercan. doctor told her that could be approaching pre-diabetic levels but as he doesn't believe there is such a thing it's not possible so now she is not being as careful about what she eats, but as I am low carb and we all eat the same meals roughly things are not too bad. I have a feeling that as she was eating lowish carbs for a while that may of affected her HbA1c.
So true trouble is trying to keep on the straight and narrow myself at times but when I do at times stray the raised blood sugars bring me back to reality very quickly some times you think I've got this beat and I can do what I want and that is a fallacy. The best you can do is teach by example
I learned that lesson over and over again. I think I got it now haha. I learned diabetes never sleeps or takes vacations. HahaSo true trouble is trying to keep on the straight and narrow myself at times but when I do at times stray the raised blood sugars bring me back to reality very quickly some times you think I've got this beat and I can do what I want and that is a fallacy.
