Hi, ive been type 1 for just over a year now, recently turned 20. Had a couple of problems when first diagnosed, abcsess and hair loss, but have been controlling my sugars alot better since then. But just recently ive been getting awful pains in my knees and hips, i cant seem to sit in the same position for more than 10 minutes! I feel like I should be using a stick!! But im only 20! Has anyone else roughly my age experienced this and has it just gone or have you needed to take anything for it? many thanks!!! xxx
 
Not had it myself yet, what sort of numbers your running bs at present
 
According to my meter my 7 day average is 12.7 mmol/L. Although i have been running more along the lines of 15-20 on and off over the past few weeks! I find it very frustrating as im trying so hard and even changed my job role!
 
Those bg levels are extremely high @jsmith8196, perhaps if you reduce those levels you might see the pain go or ease-up, but it goes without saying that if your concerned then do see your Dr about the pain, plus I'd book to see your diabetes team and get some help & support on how to get your bg levels under control.
 
I have an appointment next thursday so will ask about it then. I cant seem to stay at a normal level, then when I do get to 5 mmol/L i feel like im having a hypo, panic then eat something to bring me back up! Im not very good at this! Would of thought after a year id no what im doing but apparently not!
 
@jsmith8196, the False Hypo symptoms will settle down and disappear once your bg levels stabilise, just be sure to record all your bg levels, insulin doses and food eaten when you see your diabetes team so they can advise you further on adjusting your insulin.

I printed out sheets that I take with me to db nurse
Time and level in morning What I had for breakfast how much insulin I took and activity. I do the same for lunchtime dinner and supper. It takes a bit of time but will give the nurse and yourself a clearer picture of what is happening in your day to make adjustments. When my levels were running high I also had the feelings of hypos at 6 or 7. and did exactly the same as you and ate too much through panic.
I have been a diabetic many years and still not got good control so don't worry. Just give db nurse as much info as you can and you will get there. All the best

Thanks for your advice, will start a diary tomorrow morning, hopefully will make it easier for myself to see where i'm going wrong. Ive recently changed jobs and joined the gym again so im hoping this will help too!
