Went for a long walk this morning as usual but about half way I started to feel really tired and hot. I won't walk so far in the heat again as BG has been raised all day, just by 1 and I've drunk lots of water.
Frustrating isn't it. I decided to forego my walk today - it was just too **** hot! Instead I thought it would be useful to do a bit of gardening, wish I hadn't. Came indoors in the middle of the day, but out again about 3.o'clock after the high heat, as I thought it might do some good to sweat a bit of weight off No such luck - and same as you, when I did my 2-hour after lunch test, I was into the 7s, when normally I'm in the mid-5s or low 6s. Think I'll just stay indoors tomorrow
I think it's the humidity rather than the heat that causes the main issues: I went to Madrid over the weekend and the temperature was pushing 40 but with a humidity of 9% and it was far more comfortable than the mid-late 20's we're having at the moment.
I went for a 5km run last night when it was starting to cool down but I was still dripping with sweat after and my time was about 30s a km slower than normal
I've been feeling dreadful at the moment because of the heat and humidity - recently I've been struggling with dehydration but I'm carrying a 500ml sports bottle around with me everywhere containing weak sugar-free squash and about a quarter of a teaspoon of sea salt flakes.
I top it up all the time, and have also got a pint of water or squash to hand when I'm at work or at home.
One dizzy spell at work this morning already - and I've got to brave the great outdoors for several hours this afternoon!
Still, the sunshine and cloudless sky are glorious. No running for me this week, though - that would be quite a few steps too far in these conditions!
