I'm so confused

Hello
My diabetes by drs has been very mismanaged. I was assumed a type 2 and then I went to a different hospital in dka where another Dr did the antibodies test and found me to be a type 1 diabetic. My perfect hba1c then went to 95 which is abysmal due to all the juniors treating me like I didn't have diabetes and taking me off my insulin. I asked the consultant am I type 1 and he said im both ??? Now im super confused as I've been told by my nurse to say I'm type 1 yet I still have drs question my diabetic status when i go to hospitals. I'm kinda getting sick of having to prove my diagnosis every time and protocol where I should be on a sliding scale is often just ignored. I'm so fed up.

It is possible to be autoimmune (type 1) and also become simultaneously insulin resistant (type 2) but from what you’re describing that doesn’t seem like a logical fit. Perhaps you were always type 1 and then became resistant to exogenous insulin. That is of course a guess.

Hi @Harleybubb
If your antibodies came back positive then you are T1.
Do you have access to insulin now? Are you seeing a consultant or a GP?
