IMPORTANT.. Driving Car/MC and using CGM

Ive just done my annual license renewal, and noticed some wording on driving and using CGM that ive not seen before

it states that the CGM MUST be approved for making treatment decisions (non adjunctive), whilst most current well known brands 'should' comply there may well be some that dont, and its the drivers responsibility to know

ALSO important to know, that whilst using CGM you are still required to have a regular blood glucose meter and test strips with you -- so if you dont like carrying one around keep one in the glove box

Hi guys and gals.

Whilst we are now permitted to use a recognised CGM (I'm using Libre 2+) for our blood testing whilst driving, we also need to be aware of the drugs we are prescribed. My driving licence renewal reminder came through in April last year. My licence is on a 3 year medical review. I completed everything and sent it strait back the next day. A couple of weeks went by and I received another letter. This time there was a questionnaire regarding my epileptic seizures! Epileptic seizures, I hadn't had any epileptic seizures. I completed the questionnaire and returned it strait away stating I hadn't ever had an epileptic seizure. I was starting to panic then, will I get my licence back!

It turns out the increase in my Gabapentin to control neuropathy pain in my legs at night is also used to treat epilepsy. DVLA must have done a deep dive into my medical history before issuing my licence for another 3 years, as I didn't get my licence back until November. Panic over. So just a heads up everyone.

When you complete the diabetic forms you are signing consent for them to contact your GP

And it’s always been the case that you have to notify of certain medications or conditions

Typically what you have done saying you don’t have the condition is enough.. they asked me a couple of years ago about my heart attack.. that I’ve never had

And this was just based on the fact that I’d had some ecg’s done
