Hi just looking for some advice. Went to hospital yesterday and they told me insulin I am using isn't working so changing it to two different insulin but in the mean time till get to see nurse specialist to up what I am from 14 to 26 which I have but I feel really sick, sweating and anxious all most like a hypo is this normal because I have increased insulin. Thanks
That's a big jump in insulin dose, so I presume your blood sugar has been running quite high. It could be symptoms of a false hypo because your blood sugar is a lot lower than it's been.
Ditto what @dancer said. What is your BG? Even if it's not in hypo territory, if it's low for you and your recent levels, it might be causing a false hypo.
I'm surprised they told you to increase your insulin that much, As a T2, I only ever tweak mine by 2 units at a time - you've nearly doubled it. I had a couple of false hypos when my BGs came down when increasing insulin.
Bg are quite high done 2 today both over 14! I was surprised when she put it up so much as well, if doesn't settle tomorrow will give nurse a ring. Thank you.
What were they before the increase in insulin? As I understand it, it's the rate of drop that causes the false hypo, not so much the actual number it ends up at.
Mine were in the upper 20s when I went on insulin, but we still only increased it by 2 units per dose each week, to prevent such a reaction, it really needs to come down steadily to give your body time to adjust.
