When you inject Apidra before your evening meal, it lowers your blood sugar for a while — but it doesn’t last very long, usually around 2–4 hours.
After that, if your body is still slowly digesting food or your liver starts releasing sugar into your blood (which can happen naturally), your blood sugar goes up again.
This is quite common, especially as people get older. Hormones, slower digestion, or not having long-acting insulin in your system could all play a part.
If this keeps happening, it’s worth talking to your healthcare provider about adjusting your insulin or meal plan.
