I am in total shock...

I was diagnosed in March 2016 with an HbA1c of 63, discovered this site, and became a model diabetic for my first year post-diagnosis, firmly and religiously adopting LCHF and sticking to around 30g of carbs per day, which resulted in my HbA1c dropping to 42 within the first 3 months, and then reducing to 41 at the next test. I have never taken any meds.

I had my third HbA1c test last week. I suspected that the result was going to be bad news, since I have fallen off the LCHF wagon fairly spectacularly over the past few months and have indulged in a lot of inappropriate "comfort eating" (and feeling sorry for myself about a very painful and degenerative arthritic ankle). My FBG readings have remained fairly stable and within range, but I have seen some spikes and fluctuations depending upon what I've eaten during the day.

I phoned for my blood test results today with great trepidation...

"Your HbA1c is holding steady at 41 - well done."

What?!! How on earth can THAT be????? I feel I should demand a recount, but I don't want to push my luck... Do you think they've muddled up my results with someone else's? I am genuinely dumbfounded.

So, as I am not on any meds, haven't really been observing a proper LCHF lifestyle for probably the past 6 months, and have been intermittently stuffing my face with various junk over the past 3 or 4 months, does that mean I'm in remission? Not diabetic any longer? An accident waiting to happen? Or what?

Thanks for this.
And an HbA1c of 36 and a 4 stone weight loss is brilliant - well done!
