Hello, I"m newly diagnosed and on insulin. When I injected this morning I had a droplet on the end of the needle after withdrawing and I don't know what to do about this, any advice would be much appreciated
Hello and welcome to the forum @phlipper. After you have pushed the plunger (I presume you are on pens?) did you leave the needle in for a bit or did you pull it straight out? I cant see it being a problem for you as those droplets are a VERY small part of 1 unit. If you are worried keep an eye on your bloods for the next few hours. BUT, honestly, I don't think it will affect you
A droplet of what?
If it was a droplet of insulin, then that is not too unusual. There can (more like will, maybe) be small amounts of insulin left in a syringe/pen, from the injected fluid.
If it was a droplet of blood, then you have hit a blood vessel, and that can cause a more darting effect of your insulin, and this can in turn cause a hypo a bit easier...

The tiny droplet, a 'beeble', occurs about 19 out of 20 times, probably a lot more.
It occurs despite leaving needle in skin for count of 15.
I have 4 insulin injections daily of basal/bonus. Always has happened.
Just put needle back into its cover and dispose of.

Yes, I hold it in for a count of 10, but I was in the car this morning and positioned a little awkwardly, plus I now realise that I forgot to prime first, so maybe that had something to do with it. I'm also on Metformin so I can't imagine too much of a problem.

I inject 1/2u of insulin a lot, where losing the droplet means losing the dose. I found that even if you hold the pen in for a few seconds you still lose insulin if you pull the needle out too fast. What's worked for me is to inject, wait a few seconds, pull the needle half way out, wait another couple of seconds and then take it out.
