I have type 2 diabetes which seems resistant to treatment. I'm perfect weight, diet is fine but sugar levels just rise and rise. So, put on lantus. However, one hour after first dose experienced mad ectopics which lasted all night. Same the next night then tipped into full blown AF by the following day. Now feel really rubbish and sugar still too high. Has anyone else had a definite causal link between lantus and AF?

I was using lantus prior to changing to a pump and not experienced AF, if I were you I'd contact your diabetes team and alert them to the fact that you experiencing side-effects from taking lantus insulin.

As you are a new member to the forum I'll tag @daisy1 to give you some excellent advice.

I've just seen Dr but he's never had anyone else with this side effect so I wondered if anyone on here had.

Yes some members have experiences side-effects and hopefully they'll be along shortly to reply to your thread, but what does your Dr intend to do about your reaction to lantus, have they suggested an alternative basal insulin?

You might want to have a read of this entry about lantus, including full info on possible side effects:

I think your doctor should review whether an alternative might be better for you.
