Insulin not being absorbed

I've had diabetes for 30 + years so my insulin is not being absorbed, yes I rotate my sites, ideas?

By blood readings, before the meal I've taken a reading and it's say 6.6, then I've taken my usual injection 24 units for my evening meal, having calculated the carbs, 2 hrs later it's zoomed up to 17, then crashes down to 2.7 during the night.
