Does the omnipod stick well went put on?
Also do you have to keep the monitor close to the pod for it to work?
Does it provide better control? What issues have you had?
Thank you for your reply it's really useful for meIve had a couple of issues with pods falling off, but in the main the adhesive on the pods is pretty heavy duty - even having to use tape off spray to detach pods.
You don't need to keep the PDM close to the pod for it to work. If the pods delivering basal and you don't have the PDM with you it will continue delivering basal. The PDM has to be fairly close to the pod to tell it to do something. So if you want to tell the pod to deliver a bolus the PDM has to be near the pod, but usually, unless you've got really long arms, jus holding it in your hand will mean it's near enough. Once the PDM has spoken to the pod to tell it to deliver this much bolus you can leave the PDM and wander off to a different room.
Pumps don't magically provide better control. They provide more options for the user to achieve control, but achieving that control is down to the pump user. I would suggest getting a copy off the book "pumping insulin" if you are moving to a pump. It's a textbook on what you need to know to use a pump effectively.
Thanks for your response. Sounds like it has many positivesHi there
I also have the omnipod and it is a fantastic bit of kit -- I have not had many issues in 20 months of using this pump.
I have only pulled one pod off by accident when I ran my arm into a door frame full on and the pod came straight off ( oops )
I too have to use adhesive remover to remove them after they expire -- I use zoff adhesive pads for removal
May i ask whereabouts you stick your pod?
