My GP appears undecided as to whether to start me on Victoza or on Insulin and has sent me away for another month with yet more advice on carbohydrates! Which is the better therapy? I am concerned about weight gain with Insulin as I already carry too much weight, however I have seen people get anew lease of life upon starting Insulin. Any thoughts, advice or warnings would be appreciated.
I actually started on insulin many years ago and unfortunately my weight had increased along with my insulin dosage. Plus I just didn't look after myself properly - I head my head firmly in the sand.
In the end I asked my Dr for help and I was put on Victoza at the end of September. Since then I have been able to reduce my insulin dosage by 60% and have lost 1st 7lbs. It hasn't been easy but since finding this site I have changed my whole diet and outlook.
If I were to choose now which one I would go on - I would choose Victoza.
Hope you get some more advice from other peeps. Let us know how your getting on.
