Hi,
I've just had my annual review and my hba1c is 63, doc put me on metformin in dec 2012, 2 500mg bd, then in jan 2013 put me on gliclazide 80mg 1 bd, as i could not tolerate metformin, then within month rose to 4 bd. now yesterday said he wants me on insulin, is this normal to go onto insulin so quick? Diagnosis - gestational June 2008, then type 2 in jan 2010. My hba1c has been around 43 until about 6 months ago, no changes for reason why. Advice would be great.
Thanks

What is your BG reading, and what insulin are you taking?

I went on to Insulin (slow release) Lantus after 3 weeks I did ask for it though mainly because the Metformin and Glicazide wernt effective enough
The insulin has dropped my levels though, I was 14 to 18 and even having spike of 26
I'm down in between 7.7 and 12.9 now though with an occasional 14

It has made me feel better yes, I am much more mentally active and it easy to take, doesn't hurt actually pricking my finger hurts more.
I take 15 units of Lantus every eve at 7:30pm, my levels drop to around 7.7 in the night but are up to 12ish in the Morning

This may level out in time, I am low carbing at the moment

I used to walk around in a haze also, its better now though
