Do you mean the transmitter or the receiver. The transmitter (the bit that transmits your BG) is the bit that is stuck to you and most dogs wouldn't try to pull something off you from under your clothes.

Regardless, have you tried just adding it to your home insurance?
I added my pump o my home insurance with no trouble. They charged a little extra for it but that is worth about ten times the cost of a Dexvom.

Maybe worth checking your existing home and contents insurance policy - these can be much broader than you might think. They often cover wearable and moveable devices in and out of the home but it depends entirely on what the particular policy says, excesses etc.

Years ago, I was given a free week long trial of one of the early Medtronic Guardians, as part of a sales pitch, asked them how much the receiver cost, was something ridiculous like £4000! I was totally paranoid that week about losing it!
