Hello

I am thinking about using this, providing people think it is worth doing. However, could someone give me some guidelines as to how often and how long seems 8pm to 12am is normal?

Also, how do you fit this in with exercise. For example, do you do your exercise while still fasting, or do you delay it until you have broken your fast?

Many thanks

Mark

Check out my thread from my recent 7 day fast (NOT Suggesting you do this), but there is lots of info that should answer your questions

In short, 12 hours as a sensible place to start, just live and exercise normally, but remember reading to take in lots of fluid and on longer fasts perhaps a Bovril once a day to provide you with the lost salt.

Hello

Would you be doing this to lose weight and if so would you be referring to the 5:2 intermittent fasting regime? If so, several of my friends have been successful and would consider it worth doing, my wife on the other hand actually gained weight and I'm guessing that was because she made up for the two 500 calories days by eating considerably more on the following day or it could be that like weight lifters who fast, she's increased her muscle mass and decreased her fat mass. Intermittent fasting might sound like a misnomer when you're consuming 500 calories on the two fasting days, but that's what it's called.

Apologies if this question seems a bit flippant, isn't fasting from 8pm to 12 am called skipping breakfast? As far as exercise is concerned, my friends avoided exercise like squash and singles tennis on the 500 calorie day.

Hi

Not trying to lose weight, I am now right in the middle of my BMI range. More trying to keep weight on these day! I am more after, if it does help to control BG levels.

Some places I read says it does, others say it is better to spread meals. Thinking that it might be another string to the "keeping blood sugars low bow".

Cheers

Mark

People are different so what works for one may not for another.

You can only try and see what affect it has on your BG.

There is no guarantee

That's interesting. I guess not exercising on fasting days must stop stress affect and the liver thinking your starving.
I'm very interested in the liver's whole role in type 2. It's affects can be massive and a huge influence on fasting.
