Hi all,
Am new to the board (not to Diabetes!), so thought I'd say hi.
29 year old male, Type 1 since September 2003...had it for possibly since May that year (serious concussion may have been the trigger), but because of the gym, playing American Football so intesively it wasn't diagnosed til the end of the season when I took a month off and I got sick, pretty quick! On Novorapid and Lantus' Glargine...controlled to a point of 5.5-7.4. hba1c 4.4% cholesterol 3.4%.
No-one on either side of my family has any form of Diabetes...and I have researched that back as far as I could!
Studied Sports Science at Uni before that, even did a study on Type 1 Diabetes in Sport spookily...Steve Redgrave and Gary Mabbutt getting a lot of mentions...
Now, I still crucify the gym and play Cricket...keeping fit and healthy.
Anyone has any q's about fitness and exercise, diet and control..let me know, been through the highs and lows of it all and will share my experiences and give any advice I can
Cheers
JP
