Introduction

Hello all,

I joined this forum because I think the UK takes Type 2 Diabetes more seriously and is more open minded than the USA, where I live.
-I'm Mike, a 72 year old, married and retired from that aerospace industry.
-I've lived in, or near, Seattle in the USA all my life.
-I like to think I'm funny, a people person and live by the golden rule.
-My wife of 38 years, Sally, and I are dog people and we currently have a nine month old Golden Doodle named Romeo, who is precious and a bit devilish.
-Microsoft
-I've never played team sports, but I enjoy watching football and sometimes basketball. I fly fished and tied flies for years when younger.
-I don't anger easily.
-No tattoos or piercings.
-Favorite musicians: Beach Boys (in my youth), Gordon Lightfoot and the Moody Blues.
-After having a guitar since age 18, I finally started online lessons at age 67.
-I love the outdoors and hiked, fly fished and camped when younger. We live on two acres in a log home.
-Sally and I like to travel and have taken two weeks-long trips to Italy, and one to France, where my Father served in WWII.
-I've always lived comfortably, but don't consider myself wealthy.
-I have a BA in English Literature, but history in my passion.
-I like most that I am kind and decent.
-I like least that I'm a procrastinator.

I have recently read of the work of professor Roy Taylor and the remission of Type 2 Diabetes using the Newcastle Diet, which I hope to begin soon. Perhaps I've had my condition too long at 15 years, but there have been successes after longer than that. Prof Taylor says the only way you'll know is if you try it.

I hope to benefit and learn from many of you.
