Hi everyone,I m asking this question because my son who is five years old has recently diagnosed with type 1. A year ago he was suffered with ITP which is also an auto immune disease but that disease was successfully reversed. Now my doctor said that my son's diabetes is possibly triggered by that ITP one year ago. if it is true then he is also vulnerable to other auto immune diseases too. Anyone have any authentic information about this?????????
From what I've read, there are some strong supporting theories but maybe not much in the way of clinical proof.
"The most striking association was for thyroiditis among type 1 diabetes patients, where there was a greater than fourfold excess risk of thyroiditis than expected. However, this study documented an inverse association between rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, regardless of diagnostic sequence. Sex-specific results were similar to those for both sexes combined."
