OK, whist I respect the right, in normal circumstances, of a Moderator or Administrator to have their decisions accepted without public debate you have brought up your actions against Defren I feel no constraint in therefore questioning your decisions.benedict wrote:From the posts that Defren has put up over the months, it seems she firmly believes that eating any more than very small amounts of carbohydrate will lead to complications and it has been put in blunt ways that have put off a number of new and long time members. It had to stop as it had already gone too far.

As for newbies well seeing as T2 is mostly in the older range of people i think we are fully grown enough to take what people say and either run with it or ignore it.
We certainly don't need patronising.

Ashleigh, I am pleased you wrote the above words. I recently attended a course at our diabetic clinic run by the Consultant, Specialist Nurse, and Dietician/Fitness Adviser. The participants ranged from a diabetic person of ten years standing to one newly diagnosed three months previously. Complications were dealt with by the Consultant with cold hard facts and not at all dumbed down. It was made quite clear that if we did not manage our diabetes control efficiently that complications would eventually happen.
Defren said:So my highly unfair ban has been lifted. I am DISGUSTED by the heavy handed tactics used, and THEN to carry on blackening my name while I had no recourse. I am considering my future on this forum and it is no way a given I will return.
Much love and many thanks for all the support I have had. You really are a terrific bunch of people.
Joanna.

One of the reasons why I felt a ban was necessary did not take the context into account well. There were other reasons and I'd felt it necessary to delete 2 posts leading up to the ban so it was not completely unwarranted. Was it overly harsh? Yes, I think it probably was.
I don't wish to cause upset and resentment on anyone and I think more harm will be done if stubbornness is allowed to govern.

benedict said:Yes, Defren I believe it was heavy handed. I also unintentionally took a post out of context which was certainly bad on my part. I'm sorry for this.
However, whilst the length of suspension was heavy handed, I felt and still feel a suspension was warranted because I'd needed to remove 2 posts from you on one thread and you didn't take my feedback on board.
