Type 1 Issues with freestyle Libre app on iPhone?

I keep getting false high readings. I’ve been scanning my sensor and it gives me a reading of 21mmol, when I check with my accu-check meter it says something around 14. This has happened a few times?


Woke up last night and my Libre app said i was something around 26mmol but when I check my meter it said 18mmol.

I’ve been diabetic for 4 years and never had a blood sugar reading near 26mmol.

This never happened to me before when I was using the freestyle Libre reader, wondering if it is an issue with the app? Or I’m just having some bad luck

Also why does the app read up to 27 when the reader only goes to 21!!
 
@stefficlewis . A bigger concern for me would be why are your BS levels in the teens?
I use dexcom and find that the more you drift to high numbers the greater the variations in blood and interstitial readings.
You may find that the libre will be more in line if your bloods are between 4 and 10 mmol.
 
I only used the Libre once and inaccurate readings like you are seeing stopped me getting another sensor.
I think the Libre is more accurate with readings in the 4 to 7 range and there was a small study recently which came to the same conclusion.
I have also tried Dexcom and found the same thing. My conclusion was they are great for spotting trends (e.g. how soon after eating pasta does my BG rise?) but not so good for me to come close to replacing finger prick.
 

Because that’s where my blood sugars have been lately. I also had a hypo the previous day and wasn’t correcting my blood sugar- following DAFNE.

I have never had an issue with these high reading using the reader. Just wondering if there’s an issue with the app
 
Are you saying the app and the freestyle libre reader differ? I have never seen that on android. It's quite illogical. There is no reason for a difference, it is a purely digital exchange of data AFAIK.

No the app and my BGM are considerably different. I think it might be an issue with the sensor but I’ve never had that before.
 
As previously said, at those levels there will almost certainly be differences between the two test types. And that's not really important. The difference between 18 or 26 IMO is accademic. They are both too high.

Ok you might say that calculating a bolus adjustment could be difficult but you could do it in chunks and of course watch the trend on the libre.

I think we all fuss about the numbers too much. One of those new bloodless testing bracelet thingies shows red, amber, green. Not a bad idea.
 

Yeah I understand that. I was just wondering if anyone else is having issues. I’m going to phone Abbott because my sensor is clearly not working properly.

As I had said, I’ve never had discrepancies like this before so therefore I don’t see that saying ‘at these high levels there may be differences’ is helpful.

It’s not really for anyone else to say if someone’s numbers seem too high.. there’s many reasons for high numbers. Weight training, post gym high, sickness and medications.

Is this really what they teach? I think they are being extremely overly cautious about preventing hypos if so, there's no reason to be running blood sugars in the teens for hours at a time and not correct because of something that happened yesterday.
